Teddy Riley Files Lawsuit Against Former Members Of Blackstreet
The 90's R&B group, known for their soulful hits and club bangers, is now wrapped up in a messy legal feud.
Legendary producer and former member of music group Blackstreet, Teddy Riley, has filed a lawsuit against estranged group members for illegal use of the quartet's name, VIBE magazine reports.
But Riley isn't taking on all his bandmates alone. According to the lawsuit, Teddy Riley, who reportedly owns the Blackstreet trademark, also filed with co-owner and group member Chauncey Black. The pair have held rights to the name since 1992.
In the lawsuit, Riley and Black alleged that Mark Middleton and Eric Williams have booked themselves for performances and used the name without permission since 2003. Middleton and Williams have continued to use the trademark, ignoring cease and desist letters sent by Riley and Black's lawyers.
"Defendants have used the name and mark Blackstreet in such a manner as to create actual confusion and likelihood of confusion among prospective customers and/or purchasers of the services provided by plaintiffs," the lawsuit reads, according to AllHipHop.com.
Middleton and Williams admitted to having issues with Riley and Black during a radio interview on Hartford, Connecticut's Hot 93.7. They claimed there were "two sets" of Blackstreet because the two owners refused to share proceeds.
According to AllHipHop.com, Riley and Black said that Middleton and Williams signed a contract, stipulating they were "works for hire" and had no rights to the trademark name.

(Random Album) Mary Mary - "Thankful"
Well because I have a late birthday, I was actually 16 most of the year and even when this album came out in 2000. I actually popped this album into my iTunes last night and have been rockin it since last night. I have not heard this album in awhile and actually forgot how hard this album rocks. I remember being a teen and asking myself "is this gospel?" just because it had several uptempo and midtempo songs on it. Not to mention that they have a song with Destiny's Child.

(New Music) Ruben Studdard - 'Rock Wit' Cha' (Bobby Brown Remake)
I love, love, love this remake. Ruben almost makes it seem like a completely new and unheard of song. He approached this track as a brand new and never before heard single. I really like those that can remake songs without completely steering away from the original sound and feel of the track.

(Video) Rachel Crow's emotional elimination on "X Factor (U.S.)"
Now I missed "X Factor" this week and last week but Rachel's elimination was a really emotional one. Even being one of the judges, Nicole Scherzinger was at a loss for words and started getting teary eyed herself.

50 Cent signs and introduces Paris aka Precious Paris to G-Unit Records
It's about time that another female rapper stepped onto the music scene. Introducing Paris who has just been signed to G-Unit Records by 50 Cent. There have never been that many female rappers and as of right now the only big name female rappers that I can immediately think of as far as dropping music in the past year and a half are Trina and Nicki Minaj (there are probably more but it's late so forgive me) and upcoming albums by Lil Kim, Eve, Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj ect. in the next year or so. Im just glad that a new chick is entering the already small field of female rappers.

(New Music) Anthony Hamilton Ft. Keri Hilson - 'Never Let Go'
This song is not horrible but I do not think it is the best. To me, Anthony's and Keri's voices do not seem to work well together. Vocally they are in 2 different places.

(New Music Video) Cori B. - 'SMH'
Now for those of you that are like "who is this kid" she is Snoop Dogg;s daughter and she is getting into the music biz.
(New Music) Bobby Valentino Ft. 2 Chainz & Meek Mill - 'Drop It'
This track is from Bobby Valentino's upcoming mixtape "Vitamin V" dropping on December 20th. This song is decent to me and almost sounds like something Trey Songz would do. This song is not bad at all but it does not fully grab my attention. Well I take that back because 2 Chainz and Meek Mill's rhymes were cool.

(New Music) Tyrese Ft. Faith Evans & Rick Ross - 'Stay (Remix)'
This track really gives me like a mid to late 90's feel and I have also noticed that for a remix this is supposed to be by Tyrese Ft. Faith and Rick Ross this remix is clearly led by Faith who sings half of the first verse and all of the second verse in addition to the chorus and the bridge. I really like Faith's vocals on this track and really feel as though she could have handled this song completely by herself. However all in all I do like this song overall.

(Random Music Video) BLACKstreet & Janet Jackson Ft. Ja Rule & Eve - 'Girlfriend / Boyfriend'
Now, I really do not plan on doing music blogs today because today is my birthday and im chillin for the most part but I just got a random urge to play this track. I loved this song back in high school in 99. There was a gap of a few years when I heard it again but I had realized that this song featured a then not well known Ja Rule and Eve. This is the first track that I remember hearing them on.

(New Music) Anthony Harrell - 'Baby Be Mine'
Anyone who truely knows me knows that I have been a Michael Jackson fan for as long as I can remember. I grew up on his music and it is overall a really good remake. Anthony kept it real simple and did not overdo it like some musical artist tend to do.

(New Music) J Staffz - 'She's A Keeper'
A few weeks ago I had no idea that J Staffz sung algo. I only knew him to be a rapper. However once I saw the music video for 'Pillow' by Dee Ft. J Staffz I then realized that he is a singer also. For him to both produce this beat and sing on it is really good. All in all I like this song with it's real chill vibe that it gives me.

(New Album) Mya - "K.I.S.S."
Mya's album "K.I.S.S." will finally be released in the U.S. on December 20th and im personally happy because I had considered buying the earlier release which was overseas and would've been crazy expensiveve. Now I have yet to see any promotion of the album and probably won't so consider this a notice of the upcoming album release in the U.S.. There is only a MP3 version currently available but you can purchase it on Amazon here.
(New Music) Teairra Mari - 'U Did Dat'
Im glad to hear a new track by Teairra which will be the lead single from her off-delayed sophomore album which is as of yet untitled. This song is not bad but im not sure if it should be the lead single from the upcoming album.
