(Album Review) SWV - "I Missed Us"

I Missed Us

After their last album "Release Some Tension" was released in 1997 the group (broke up nope wrong word) took a break for nearly fifteen years. This left their fans (myself included) believing that they were done for good. However, the group made a cameo performance at the BET Awards in 2008 and did a remix to Chris Brown's "She Ain't You" in 2011.So all in all, I am happy to see them making a comeback and reviving R&B music. Here are my thoughts on their album.

1. "Co-Sign" - The ladies started their highly anticipated return album with their debut single from the album marking their return to R&B music. This song explains a woman who is overly satisfied with her man and is open to taking it further.
2. "All About You" - This track is cool with the 90's throwback party feel and the sample of 'Kissing Game' by Hi-Five
3. "Show Off" (Feat. A.X.) - this track also features another 90's music sample of 'Come And Talk To Me' by Jodeci
4. "Everything I Love" - This is hands down a R&B track while the ladies sing about willing to risk everything they love for their man
5. "Do Ya" (Feat. Brianna Perry) - This track comes in with a uptempo disco type of beat. This track is a hands down club type of song. This song is one of those songs that just makes you want to dance.
6. "The Best Years" - This song talks about a past relationship and the good times in it. The song goes on to explain a mutual love in a past relationship and basically explaining to him that he was given the best years of his life.
7. "I Missed Us" - Now, we are getting to the title track of the album roughly halfway through. This track simply explains a past relationship and the trouble that it had in the past. The ladies are just wishing that the happier times in their relationships could be reached again.
8. "Better Than I" - This song is really for those who want to let their significant other know that the other chick is not better than her.
9. "Keep Your Home" - This song is about a man who might not be faithful to his woman so she attempts to keep him home and out of trouble
10. "Time To Go" - The song kicks off with a few rhymes by Taj which is not heard often. The song then goes on explain to the man that she is ready to move on and that it is time for him to go.
11. "Use Me" - This song is really showing appreciation for that special someone.
12. "Love Unconditionally" - In this song a woman tries to figure out of this man is the one for her although she already believes that he is.
13. "If Only You Knew" - The ladies cover the ageless song by Ms. Patti LaBelle.
